Bus fares in Newport are to rise for the second time in four months. From March 23 a single fare rises by 10 pence to £1.20. It was increased by 10 pence in early January. Other fares also increase at the same time. Newport Bus, the city's public transport operator blames the increase on the lack of a subsidy from the Welsh Assembly to compensate for the rising cost of fuel.

Is it not time that Newport got rid of this very poor bus company. It has a terrible record for reliability and customer service
Its locally none as "Newport Bus Failing the City"
It has to be one of the worst bus compaanies in the UK. So the fares are now going up because of its incomptent management great.
Another large number of people will decide going buy car is cheaper a lot quicker and lot more reliable.
It is more likely down to the gross inefficiency and mismanagment of Newport Bus. We have the interesting cncept now of fares being much higher on Newport Bus then in London & the South East. That say a lot about how badly Newport bus is being operated.
What Newport badly needs is competition that would seriously shake up the complacency of Newport Bus.
I note as well that service chanes take place on the 12 and the 5 and yet there are no timetables available another bit of the usual su standard service so common in Newport. Just turn up and guss what time the bus comes along.
