Newport City Council has expressed concerns regarding development plans submitted by Torfaen County Borough Council. Newport state that very little green wedge between the two local authority areas is envisaged by the plan and that considerable residential development is planned in the Llantarnam area bordering the City without any consideration for public transport including rail. The Boundaries Commission recently considered and refused plans to move part of Llantarnam in to the City Council area.
