WORK STARTS ON MASSIVE RECYCLING PLANT

Construction has begun on a huge new waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) plant which developers say will be one of the biggest of its kind in the world. Located in the Newport docks area the massive recycling site will take up 12 acres of land and will process up to 100,000 tonnes of WEEE annually. The site is being built by metal recycling firm Sims Group which the website says is investing £11 million into the project. Priorities of the plant, which is set to open within the next nine months, will be the dismantlement of cathode ray tubes (CRT) and TV monitors
