Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses to an assault that occurred between 00.30 and 01.30 on Saturday April 5, 2008 in Albany Street, Newport. As a result of the incident a 46 year old Newport man sustained serious head injuries and on Monday April 7, 2008 he died at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. Gwent Police have commenced a murder investigation. To date, five people have been arrested and are being detained in connection with the enquiry.
