A CAR fell into a reen near Newport this afternoon.
The incident happened near the Lighthouse Inn at St Brides at 2.21 this afternoon.
Firecrews were called to the scene but no recovery was required.
The fire service said an elderly man was being treated by paramedics

ASSEMBLY TO ASSIST WITH STATION DEVELOPMENT
Ieuan Wyn Jones, Transport Minister in the Welsh Assembly Government, has announced plans to invst £2.9 million in the redevelopment of Newport Station in the coming year. This is part of a £25 million plan for Newport Station including
a new footbridge, which will allow people to cross easily from one side of the station to the other;
a light airy concourse, which will lead passengers out onto a landscaped boulevard with slow-moving traffic;
a new multi-storey car park in station grounds;
a new bus/rail interchange will encourage passengers to use public transport.£5.5 million has already been spent on the new platform 4 at the station
MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING INDECENT EXPOSURE ALLEGATION
A 54 year old man has been arrested in connection with an incident of indecent exposure, which occurred in Rogerstone on Friday February 22, 2008. The victim, a thirteen year old local girl was walking through the lane that runs from Tregwilym Industrial Estate to Viaduct Way when she passed a man who was jogging. The girl continued to walk up the lane and came across the same man standing in front of her with his shorts down indecently exposing himself. He then ran off. The man has been released on bail pending further enquiries
